There’s no argument that outsourcing can save you time. It can take away tasks you’re not interested or proficient in and allow you to focus on your best work.
Did you know outsourcing can also save you money?
On the surface, outsourcing seems expensive. But for some tasks and projects that expense is minimal compared to the benefits it provides.
Let’s say you have a special project. It may be a one-off, it may not be, but you don’t know right now. Will the project or task at hand require purchasing equipment? Will you need more space to do it correctly? More training? Outsourcing to contractors can offset the costs of procuring things you may only need for a short period of time.
As another example, in a tough labor market outsourcing can fill the gaps in your staff, allowing you to take time to find the right person to join the team. It’s certainly less expensive than hiring the wrong person! It’s also less responsibility, because the overhead costs associated with employees are carried by someone else.
But what about outsourcing marketing tasks? That can get really expensive!
Yes it can. But what’s the alternative?
Think about how many opportunities you may be missing out on because your staff is overwhelmed, a project keeps getting put on the back burner, or you just don’t have the expertise or talent to do something correctly? What if you could hire an expert in a particular area, with experience that will get a project done better and faster? What would be the return on that investment? What kind of money could that actually be saving you?
Like many things in life and business, thinking about outsourcing is a matter of perspective. If you combine the time and money it could potentially save, it’s kind of a no-brainer.
